Countdown to the equinox

Another progressive doily, anyone?

Four weeks ago, the groundhog told us to wait for spring.  Though if you take advice from a woodchuck, you’d also plant your yard to lettuce and invite his family for a picnic.

With our hearts on the coming green, I propose a doily to green up the days until the equinox. A new section will be posted every three to four days.

I’m rather pleased with the center motif, because four-leaf clovers are joined by split rings (sometimes) and the half-balanced double stitches of the chains make the center firm without the chains having to retrace their steps, so to speak.

Shamrocks

You will need two shuttles wound CTM.

R: 10-4-6

CH: 1

{R: 6+6-6-6} twice

CH: 1

R: 6+4-10

CH: Using half-balanced double stitch (the first half of the stitch as usual, the second worked twice before the flip) 12-4-12

R: 10+4-6

CH: 1

{R: 6+6-6-6} twice

CH: 1

*SR: 6+4/10

SR:  4-6/10

CH: 1

{R: 6+6-6-6} twice

CH: 1

R: 6+4-10

CH: Using half-balanced double stitch  12+4-12

R: 10+4-6

CH: 1

{R: 6+6-6-6} twice

CH: 1

Repeat from * one more time.

Cut one thread and work ends into final R: 6+4+ (to first R) 10.

Cut second thread and sew in end.
